Have you noticed a white or gray tint on your brick exterior, especially after it rains? This is called efflorescence and actually doesn't come from the brick itself. Our President, Todd Belden, walks us through what efflorescence is and what causes it.

Because brick is fired at over 1800 degrees, quality brick do not contain salts that cause efflorescence. If efflorescence shows on a brick wall, it was likely absorbed from the other materials in the wall, and simple rain should wash it out of the system after a full seasonal cycle.
